Steve Merle is the owner and director of Act One Studios. He
received his MFA in acting from Columbia University in New York. Steve
has appeared in many leading Chicago area theaters including The
Goodman Theatre, Northlight Repertory, the Oak Park Shakespeare
Festival and the Forum Theatre. Among Steve's favorite roles are
Charlie in "The Foreigner", Vershinin in "Three Sisters", Cassius in
"Julius Caesar" and Orlando in "As You Like It". A proud member of AEA, AFTRA, and SAG, Steve's commercial
clients run to over a hundred and fifty including McDonald's,
Ameritech, Illinois Bell, Sears and Johnsonville Bratwurst - which ran
for a record breaking 21 years, and can be seen in the "Mums the Word"
episode of Early Edition, among others.
In
addition to teaching Act One acting and Monologue classes, he has enjoyed directing "Eastern Standard,"
"Brecht on Brecht," "The Mound Builders" "All In The Timing," "Private
Eyes," " Ti Jean Blues," "Heart of Redness," and other productions with
the students of Act One, in our thrice yearly Student Theatre Fest.
Steve has also lends his skills to the
training of the New York Public Defenders Association, the Illinois
Theatre Association, and many midwest colleges. |
